Who Was Dana Hyra?
Dana Hyra was a member of the Hyra family and the sister of Hollywood actress Meg Ryan. Unlike her famous sister, Dana did not develop a well documented public career in film, television, or music.
Meg Ryan’s public biography confirms that she had two sisters, Dana and Annie, as well as a brother, Andrew Hyra.
Because Dana lived outside the public entertainment world, reliable information about her work, education, daily life, and personal activities is scarce.
Dana Hyra Age and Birth Date
Genealogy records list Dana Hyra’s birth date as December 9, 1960. They place her birth in Fairfield, Connecticut. Based on that record, she was 61 years old when she died in 2022.
Some websites publish different birth dates and ages for Dana Hyra. Those claims are not supported by the same level of documentation. For that reason, December 9, 1960 should be treated as a reported genealogy record rather than an independently confirmed public biography fact.
Dana Hyra Early Life
Dana grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut, in the family of Harry Michael Hyra and Susan Jordan Hyra. The family included four children, Meg, Dana, Andrew, and Annie.
Her father, Harry Hyra, was a mathematics teacher. Records also identify Susan Jordan Hyra, later known as Susan Jordan Duggan, as a teacher and actress.
Dana’s parents divorced in the 1970s. Meg Ryan’s biography also records the family divorce in 1976.
Dana Hyra Career
There is no strong public evidence showing that Dana Hyra had a professional career in Hollywood.
Unlike Meg Ryan, who became a major film actress, Dana remained outside the entertainment industry. Available biographies generally describe her as a private person rather than an actress, musician, or public personality.
No verified list of film roles, television appearances, major business ventures, or other public professional achievements has been established for her.
This lack of career information is important because several online biography pages make specific claims about Dana’s occupation, education, income, and lifestyle without providing reliable supporting sources.

Meg Ryan was born Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra and later adopted the professional surname Ryan. She became internationally known for films including When Harry Met Sally…, Sleepless in Seattle, and You’ve Got Mail.
Dana did not follow the same public career path. Her connection to Meg Ryan is therefore the main reason her name appears in celebrity family searches.

Did Dana Hyra Have Children?
Reliable public sources do not provide clear, independently verified information about Dana Hyra’s children.

Dana Hyra Personal Life
Dana Hyra appears to have lived largely outside the public spotlight. Unlike her sister Meg Ryan, she did not build a public profile through acting or regular media appearances.
Information about her hobbies, friendships, education, professional activities, and private relationships is limited. Many details that circulate online come from low quality biography websites rather than verified interviews, official records, or major publications.
For that reason, her personal life is best described using only information supported by available records.
Dana Hyra Death
Genealogy and memorial records indicate that Dana Judith Hyra Williams died in 2022 at the age of 61. The records place her death in Vacaville, California. Find a Grave also lists a memorial for Dana Judith Hyra Williams with the dates 1960 to 2022.
The available public records do not provide a widely verified obituary with detailed information about her final years.
